Kremlin's Russifying “internationalists”

Another great article I came across was in The Day newspaper. All those Kremlin Politburo “internationalists” were outright demagogues and chauvinists who utterly hated the ethnic sentiments of the peoples that made up the USSR, with Ukraine probably topping the list. Click here to read the complete article.

Yes, it is precisely these "internationalists" who enforce Russian hegemony that your anonymous commentator scoffed about in an earlier post.

If you can get your head around the concept of this hegemony and how it's enforced, then you can start to understand the roots of the prejudice against Ukrainians and Ukrainian culture within Canada's "progressive" circles as far back as a century ago. (It is, incidentally, identical to the prejudice in capitalist and imperialist, etc. circles.)

Back in the 1980s I read a book about this hegemony by Ukrainian dssident Ivan Dziuba. The title is, interestingly enough, Internationalism or Russification?

Unfortunately, not much has changed since when Dziuba wrote it.

And lest anyone wax nostalgic for those good ole days, there was hardly freedom of the press under communism. Like so many other revolutionary exposés, this book was circulated via the underground "press." This generally meant the books were hand-copied and people risked their lives to pass them around ... a concept that Canada's coddled communists are unlikely to get their heads around.
