New lows on the high road to democracy


And the Ukrainian clowns are back at it, adding more shame to an already shameful history. When will they learn to behave like human beings and not goons. Roman

Ukraine’s democracy proved as fragile on April 27 as the raw eggs that pelted Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn.

The crowd was nasty, clownish and thuggish inside parliament, among the nation’s 450 top lawmakers. But there were tense moments outside as well, among the estimated crowd of at least several thousand demonstrators. Most were from the opposition and tried to fight their way into parliament. But were easily repelled by platoons of police and helmeted Berkut riot-control officers.
