No future for Soviet symbols in Ukraine

It’s high time to speak out loud about those directly responsible for repressions and tortures. It’s time for their public verdict. All over the territory of Ukraine one can still see thousands of monuments and other symbols, dedicated to apologists of communism, in particular to those who organised repressions. I have entrusted certain organs with the preparation of a bill which must commence real processes of liquidating symbols of totalitarianism and communist regime in Ukraine. I will also take care of parliament’s adoption of my bills about the juridical status of Ukrainians who fought for independence of Ukraine in the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and about criminal responsibility for rejecting Ukrainian famine and holocaust. Roman,

Good to see such a post here, but unfortunately their are still so many youth in this country that are lost. When I see kids under twenty wearing Soviet symbols it drives me nuts as they have no idea of what stands behind those symbols.

It is time for Ukraine to move on... but not forget the past. Particularly the atrocities which were committed in the name of "communism"!

Remember, Communism is the uniting of the Slavic people! Most people have some sort of white-washed nostalgia towards the communist era because it propagated a myth of prosperity through state-sponsored media. Despite a checkered past, the myth continued. Now unfortunately the youth are poor, yet energized, but are sold lies http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcIqSViKb98

Thanks Vasyland Andrew for your comments. We have to keep knocking on every door and keep pushing this issue and so many others to the fore-front. If we don't do it, certainly nobody will do it for us. We have a great group here in Canada, that as watch dogs we can keep a keen eye on any anti-Ukrainian propaganda and have ready rebuttals to such cases. We just got to keep forging ahead. I think much has been done so far, but we can not rest on our laurels, but continue to built bridges and cementing our foundation that we will be a force to reckoned with.
